Do you remember what it was like shooting with Bruce Weber for Polo Sport/Ralph Lauren?

OWEN MCKIBBIN I had braces till I was 28-years-old, and my first shoot was with Bruce Weber, so I got very lucky to say the least. Bruce was such a professional and such a gentleman. Ralph Lauren does everything so professionally and they are by far my favorite client and designer to work with. When that is your first job it sets the bar pretty high and I've become close personal friends with a few people from Ralph Lauren.

How has the modeling world changed since you first stepped into it?

OM It seems the modeling world has changed a ton since I was in the game. There used to be something called your “book" and I had one of the best books on the planet. Now we have social media, which did not exist when I was doing this full time. The biggest challenge for me was always fitting into the clothes, as I was a professional athlete for 10 years, so my legs and my neck and my back always seemed to be an issue.

You’ve already worked with some big photographers, but are there any still on the wish list?

OM Steven Klein is someone I would love to work with, as well Mert and Marcus, Mariano Vivanco, to name a few. I love to work with artists and help them achieve their perfect image. It's always an honor to be part of a great collaboration.

Having 19 Men’s Health covers is pretty impressive—what’s the most important thing a man could do to better his health?

OM To better your health, as you get older you must get wiser, and you must learn. I still have a long way to go, as I have always been a late bloomer. Be less angry, chill out more, eat less, and relax more, train, and drink good red wine. Make working out like brushing your teeth—something you do at least once a day, sometimes twice—and occasionally go to bed hungry.

Is beach volleyball still a passion, or has something else replaced it?

OM That's a funny question because I was a pro beach volleyball player for 10 years, but I have always been a much better soccer player. Do I miss competing? Yes, absolutely. However I've replaced that passion with helping my son be the best student athlete he can possibly be. By far that has replaced my own personal passions when it comes to athleticism.

What’s been more fun, the ad campaigns or the fashion editorials?

OM Ralph Lauren was always one of my favorite campaigns. I also had the time of my life doing Hugo Boss and Guess. Being paid to roll around on the bed with Claudia Schiffer was pretty darn fun.

When not modeling, Owen runs F45, a fitness system/gym in Santa Monica, and serves as an ambassador for Alignmed, the first FDA registered clothing brand designed to improve posture.
