Just when you thought Coldplay was about to bow out for good (A Head Full of Dreams was strongly rumored to be their final album), the band is back out of nowhere. In honor of his 40th birthday today, Chris Martin and company surprised the world this morning by announcing a new music project, the Kaleidoscope EP, via Apple's Notes app.

To preview the EP, they released “Hypnotized,” a soothing electronic ballad that’s as light and smooth as calm ocean waves, and made it a point to call it a “non-single”. The Mary Wigmore-directed lyric video embraces Coldplay’s love for grand landscapes and the lush outdoors, hinting that the band may be getting only more bombastic and colorful as they haul on. The EP comes out on June 2 and will feature three more new tracks alongside their recent collab with The Chainsmokers, “Something Just Like This.” Peep the tracklist below.
