Given the glut of wearables out there, sporting some newfangled fitness tracker is bound to elicit more eye-rolls than looks of admiration. A new fitness monitor—in the nifty form of a ring—offers a less conspicuous, but no less functional, alternative.

The all-new Motiv Ring boasts all the features of a blue-chip fitness tracker: it closely monitors heart rate, distance, calories burned and even sleep duration through its heart sensor and accelerometer. While wearers cannot monitor their performance (or casually check if they’re still alive) on the device itself, it syncs with a corresponding iPhone app to run all the numbers on how active or indolent wearers have been.

In other words, forget your wrist. The Motiv promises motivation “wrapped around your finger.”

Available in either slate gray or rose gold, the ring is made from waterproofed titanium, giving it a space-age sheen and keeping it safe from the elements. Available for pre-order for $199 in an array of sizes, the Motiv is set to invade gyms and bootcamps in the spring.
