On Saturday (October 1), The Weeknd performed his two new tracks “Starboy” and “False Alarm” live for the first time, on Saturday Night Live. The Weeknd is the first performer of the show’s new season, with actress Margot Robbie as the guest host.

The stage’s set design was minimal with only a large, imposing cross light that lay askew. The abstract piece is reminiscent of the sword that the artist carried in the music video for “Starboy,” in which he destroys all remnants of his past self. The live performance also gave fans another look at the singer sans his signature hair cut, which he chopped off for his new era.
