After releasing videos for his latest singles “False Alarm” and “Starboy,” The Weeknd is looking to fulfill his cinematic potential. The artist took to Twitter last night to release a teaser trailer of his upcoming short film Mania, directed by longtime collaborator Grant Singer, in anticipation of his new album Starboy, coming on Friday (November 25).

The short teaser aligns with the aesthetic of the Starboy era thus far, giving The Weeknd’s usual dark and ominous moods a stunning cinematographic twist. It features shots of a mysterious nightclub, mountain roads at sunset, and a potential villain figure, also known as typical Weeknd fare. The giant panther from the “Starboy” video also makes a reappearance here, suggesting that the narrative from his latest videos isn’t over just yet.

No other details are known about the film, including if it will include music from the upcoming album. The short film is debuting soon on a currently unknown date. Stay tuned for more details.
