21 Savage and Metro Boomin Finally Drop “Savage Mode II”

The highly anticipated album follows up the duo’s 2016 EP, Savage Mode.

Rap fans can rest easy, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin just dropped Savage Mode II. The album is the follow-up to their successful 2016 EP together, Savage Mode. The album comes after months of anticipation by fans, one in particular, who started a change.org petition to get the album released. The petition reached over 28,000 signatures before closing.

The album, marketed as an extended EP, was teased with a Gibson Hazard-directed trailer released earlier this week. The trailer video derives heavy influences from horror movies and Edgar Allan Poe, featuring narration from Morgan Freeman.

Freeman, in fact, makes several appearances on the album as well, narrating the intro as well as the interludes. From God’s lips to our ears. The album also boasts featured appearances by the likes of Young Nudy, Young Thug, and Drake.

The album showcases Metro Boomin’s tight production with Savage’s…well, savage flow. Weaving through lyrics about luxury and paranoia, the 15 track album makes good use of Savage and Boomin’s combined talents. The cover art for the album pays homage to the era of 90s and 2000s rap.
