A Dream Collaboration: Maluma & The Weeknd Release “Hawái” remix

This fiery music video plays off the original…

Maluma & The Weeknd’s “Hawái” remix was first teased across social media on Wednesday, Nov 4th, as the icons were captured posing side by side. Arriving just one day later and already trending #1 on Youtube, the fiery remix and official music video is here.

Filmed by Jessy Terrero, the plot of the original music video followed Maluma arguing with his girlfriend, leading to a significant breakup, and then an intense wedding confrontation. This is essential to note because the new video, shot by Terrero in the city of Los Angeles, features the same love interest — in the form of flashbacks. Maluma appears to be love drunk because every girl reminds him of his past lover.

Having always admired The Weeknd, Maluma was still impressed by the lyricist. In a press release, the Colombian artist explained, “[The Weeknd] brought another flow to it and sang in both Spanish and English which is impressive.” This dream collab proving to be a musical match made in heaven.

The chart-topping song has entered its ninth week at No.1, and this remix hints at the continuous longevity of “Hawái.” Therefore, leading listeners into the remix, The Weeknd sings, “So now he’s your heaven? You’re lying to yourself and him to make me jealous / You put on such an act when you’re sleeping together / All this cause I said I don’t want marriage,” before switching to Spanish…
