Time travel back to New York City's Gritty Golden Era

Time travel back to New York City's Gritty Golden Era

Text: Joshua Lyon

David Godlis (known now simply as Godlis) roamed the streets of downtown NYC in the seventies documenting the legendary music scene, one Leica snapshot at a time. His book History Is Made at Night (released over the summer thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign) offers a front row, booze-soaked and blurry-eyed view of CBGB patrons and legendary performers like Patti Smith, The Ramones, Blondie.

Check out his vintage prints at agnès b. Gallerie Boutique (50 Howard Street, NYC) from September 10—October 16, and catch a sneak peek at a few of the images with our slideshow. Even better, pick up a signed copy of the whole book here.
