In a biography that music journalist and critic Marcus J. Moore spent nearly two years completing, the story and impact of Kendrick Lamar will hit shelves on October 13th of this year. Titled The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America, the biography is the first of its kind for the thirteen-time Grammy-award and Pulitzer Prize winning rapper.

“But what’s even more striking about the Compton-born lyricist and performer is how he’s established himself as a formidable adversary of oppression and force for change. Through his confessional poetics, his politically charged anthems, and his radical performances, Lamar has become a beacon of light for countless people,” reads the book’s synopsis from Simon & Schuster. 

Moore shared the reveal of the cover and synopsis on Twitter yesterday morning, saying, “Those who know me can attest to this: I give everything my all, and it always comes from a good place—whether it’s a 200-word blurb, a 900-word review, etc. I truly hope you all like the narrative. There’s a lot of light in it.”
