A$AP Rocky is PacSun’s Guest Artistic Director

The first collection of the collaboration drops on July 16.

PacSun named rapper A$AP Rocky as its first ever guest Artistic Director on Thursday.

The California-based retail brand known for its skate wear and Cali-cool aesthetic will partner with the Rocky’s label, A$AP Worldwide. Throughout the 18-month collaboration, the rapper will oversee the brand’s designer collaborations and brand campaigns. He will also be involved in in-store activations to bolster PacSun’s Soho and downtown Los Angeles stores.

The collaboration includes several limited edition collections, which Rocky says will be “both nostalgic and forward at the same time.” The first collaboration will launch on July 16, featuring Vans Old Skool sneakers in black canvas, with white leather and silver, as well as Rocky’s signature flame design.

Rocky made the announcement on his Instagram story, featuring the redesigned Old Skool shoes.

“This partnership is special to me because it’s a collaboration that combines my roots, A$AP Worldwide and some of the most respected heritage brands that have roots in both sportswear and lifestyle worlds,” said Rocky in a statement.

The rapper also recently announced a partnership with Vans, and teased the collaboration with a pair of reimagined white slip-ons, which will be featured in a later launch with PacSun.

The retailer shared the announcement on their Instagram with a picture of Rocky seated on the hood of a car, sporting a black version of the shoes.

The brand’s president, Brieane Olson, has said the partnership will help PacSun expand their customer base into late twenties and early thirties through Rocky’s broad audience.

“We are really excited to embark on this journey,” she said. “He has been an amazing collaborator for us when it comes to storytelling.”
