Adidas Skateboarding Reimagines The Forum With Heitor de Silva

This classic basketball shoe just got a skate-chic upgrade.

Adidas skateboarding is teaming up with global team rider Heitor da Silva to reimagine the classic Forum silhouette for modern skaters. The Forum 84 ADV by Heitor da Silva was unveiled today with an updated colorway featuring black, deep purple, and white, as well as da Silva’s own signature prominently displayed on the tongue.

The Forum was first released in 1984 as a basketball shoe, but was quickly repurposed as a streetwear staple. The launch of Adidas skateboarding followed in 1998, as a team of designers and skaters came together to create sleek, practical footwear for the latest sports craze.

“I skated in the adidas Originals Forum a few years ago and loved them. I love classic basketball shoes for the look, durability and comfort,” said da Silva. ‘The design process was fun and surreal—so happy I got to be a part of bringing the Forum back, especially for skateboarding.”

As far as the skateboarding upgrades go, the brand explained, “…a full-grain leather upper and rubber cup-sole, double layered toe cap for added durability, high grade EVA midsole for boosted comfort and impact protection, and an ADIPRENE molded sockliner for glove-like fit. An air-mesh tongue provides breathability, while a grippy gum sole enhances foot stability and improved board feel.”

da Silva’s version of The Forum is the first in an upcoming line of reboots, set to be released over the course of 2021. The Forum 84 ADV will be available for purchase on Dec. 5 for $100, available exclusively on the brand’s site.
