Afropunk Is Coming Back to Brooklyn

Afropunk Music Festival is back in Brooklyn. Here is what you can expect.

Afropunk Festival is returning to Brooklyn after a three year pandemic-realated hiatus. The festival will take place at Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene on September 10 and 11.

Afropunk returning to Brooklyn serves as a “celebration of Black joy and a testament to the resilience of the Brooklyn community.” Despite not being held in Brooklyn since 2019, Afropunk keeps expanding. After shows in Atlanta in 2015 and Paris and London in 2016, it’ll make it midwest debut over Juneteenth weekend at Minneapolis’ Sheridan Memorial Park with headliner Ari Lennox.

Performers for Afropunk Brooklyn 2022 include Isaiah Rashad, Freddie Gibbs, the Roots, Lucky Daye, Earl Sweatshirt, Mick Jenkins, and more. The official headliner is Burna Boy, who is set to release a new album, Love, Damini, sometime this summer.
