AMI’s Traveling Exhibition Opens To Luminous Applause

The FAMILY photographic project’s opening brought out all the stars.

The art world continues to descend upon Miami. No, they’re not going for sunny beaches or Pitbull-fueled clubs (though that doesn’t hurt). This movement is for Art Basel, the world’s premiere art festival celebrating the biggest names in the industry. Everyone who’s anyone in art is showcasing at Art Basel, making it a certain celebrity magnet. Last night was no exception, with the opening of AMI’s traveling exhibition. From Karlie Kloss to Lukas Gage, all the big names of public art came to celebrate AMI.

First opening in Paris, AMI’s traveling exhibit is making the rounds. The collection is a celebration of family, rightfully titled the FAMILY photographic project. AMI enlisted thirteen international photo artists and two guest videographers to comment upon the theme. This diverse artist base creates a collage-like exhibit, one that overlaps in its theme but differs in interpretation. With Miami being the second leg of its world tour, the FAMILY photographic project is soon bound for Shanghai.

The Miami opening featured both a gallery walkthrough and an intimate dinner, making it a deeply exclusive event. Attendees dined at Miami hotspot Swan, where they were serenaded by the smooth musical stylings of Moses Sumney. With a limited guest list, the names are sure to excite: Matt Smith, Lucas Bravo, Karlie Kloss, Isaac Powell, Lukas Gage, and many, many more. Each and every seat was occupied by a culturally significant figure.

The FAMILY photographic project will be open in Miami from December 1st to 3rd, at which point it will pack its bags for Shanghai. That’s the other important fact about Art Basel, and why it draws such impressive crowds: it’s a deeply temporal event. Now is your opportunity to see these pieces, before they quickly rush away. There’s a certain exclusivity to saying that you were there for the three days of showing, remarking upon the same photos that brought Matt Smith and Karlie Kloss joy. You too can be in with the it-crowd.
