Anthony Bourdain Documentary Set to Hit the Big Screen this summer

An exploration of Bourdain’s legacy in ‘Raodrunner’

The late chef and television personality centers a new documentary. Focus Features plans to premiere ‘Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain” at the 2oth annual Tribeca Festival in June, and is expected to hit theaters on July 16th. Directed by Morgan Neville, who won the Oscar for best documentary feature for “20 Feet From Stardom,” and was the leading creative behind 2018 doc “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?’

“Roadrunner” will delve into the culinary legend’s life as a storyteller, explorer, and chef. The chef who died by suicide in 2018, initially rose to fame through the success of his 2000 book “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly,” a blunt and revelatory glimpse behind the scenes of the restaurant industry. Proceeding his literary success, he garnered a cult following, hosting a number of traveling shows about food and culture, such as “A Cook’s Tour” on the Food Network and “No Reservations” on the Travel Channel.

In his later years, Bourdain became a familiar face on CNN with his travel show “Parts Unknown.” He had a knack for uncovering the unconventional, having moved beyond a euro-centric lens Bourdain was heralded for spotlighting cuisine and culture in lesser-known parts of the world.

After it’s theater release, “Roadrunner” will be available on CNN and HBO Max for streaming, at a later date, that has yet to be revealed.
