Apple Announces Winners of the 2020 iPhone Photography Awards

The best of smartphone photography from around the world.

There’s that classic photography saying, “the best camera is the one you have with you”—whether that be your top-of-the-line DSLR or your smartphone camera, it’s all in the content you capture regardless of the gear. This year Apple’s 2020 iPhone Photography Awards put that theory to the test, again, for their 13th Annual contest.

This year’s Grand Prize Winner is British photographer Dimpy Bhalotia, receiving Photographer of the Year for her work “Flying Boys.” Captured with an iPhone X in Banaras, India, the Grand Prize Winner shot a beautifully composed black & white photo of three boys mid-air as they jumped into the Ganges River. The low-angle gave the photo its expressive and dramatic effect.

Another remarkable shot was taken with an iPhone 6 by Artyom Baryshau for “No Walls,” that took First Place. The list of winners include a wide range of subjects shot with a variety of iPhone versions. Apple selected photographers for different categories, from “Animal Category” to “Floral Category.”
