Between London-based singer, songwriter, and producer Ari PenSmith and LA-based producer Jonah Christian, the two have worked with some of the music industry’s most acclaimed artists—Beyonce, Lil Wayne, KAYTRANADA, Nicki Minaj, Anderson .Paak, Normani, GoldLink, Burna Boy, Mahalia. Though both their collaborations are influential, the duo had yet to work together directly. 

When PenSmith and Christian finally teamed up they created a fusion of ’90s afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall for a track titled “City Girl,” but after recording it, the duo stored it away thinking it would be passed along to another artist. That’s until Soulection Records heard it and encouraged its release, bringing PenSmith and Christian’s story to today as “City Girl” is fully out.
