ASAP Rocky was supposed to headline the Wireless Festival on July 7th in Sweden without a hitch. That didn't exactly happen. Rocky was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a man in Stockholm on July 3rd. Three weeks later, he's still in prison and has missed more than just that one date on his tour schedule. Following the release of the altercation on video, fans and celebrity friends alike were outraged, sparking international intervention. Congressman Adriano Espaillat from New York got the ball rolling, but it was President Donald Trump who made the official call to Swedish prime minister, Stefan Lofven, pleading to release ASAP Rocky. As a result of his attempt, it seems  Rocky will be stuck in jail a little longer.

Lofven and his justice system will not be giving Rocky any special treatment. In fact, because the American government tried to intervene, it may backfire. Shortly after Trump's call, the Swedish prosecutor on the case announced an indictment would be filed against Rocky. His request for extending Rocky's detention until July 25th was granted, showing no signs of easing up. This comes alongside news that the other man involved in the fight will not have any charges pressed against him. While racial, judicial and geopolitical uncertainty looms around this case, one thing seems for guaranteed: ASAP Rocky has a longer stay in prison ahead of him.
