Backstage at Palomo Fall/Winter 2020

The progressive label brings together two unlikely friends.

Alejandro Gómez Palomo presented his Fall/Winter 2020 collection in Paris this week, and it was a clash of two unlikely friends: spirituality and a rave.

“We talked about being in ecstasy this season, with two perspectives, which are both very close to me,” Alejandro Gómez Palomo said in a statement. “One is the Catholic influence of representations of ecstasy as they were done by El Greco, where there are those figures that almost touch the sky. And the other is today, taking an ecstasy pill and going to a rave.”

In a unique partnership, stiff, black-and-white ensembles meet a kaleidoscope of color, melding the two entirely altered perspectives of ecstasy. A fascinating concept, Palomo’s collection perfectly blends two ideas so far from each other, yet so stylistically compatible. Utilizing extreme color collisions and vibrant patterns to bring the idea of “rave” to life and combatting that fantasy with religious influences, the collection stands as a pillar of the brand’s exceptional artistic direction.
