Bad Bunny stays true to his name on his upcoming album “Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana” (YHLQMDLG), Spanish for “I do what I want.” The Puerto Rican artist will release his album this Saturday, February 29th at 12 a.m. ET.

During an interview on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Bad Bunny shared details about his new project. While he whispered to build anticipation, Bad Bunny gave Fallon permission to reveal the album cover. The artwork depicts a young Bad Bunny with a third eye riding away on his bike during the apocalypse—reminiscent of ‘80s horror films. Although he confirmed 20 tracks, he gave limited specifics to indulge on. After the interview he performed Ignorantes” with Sech and the Roots.

For the performance, Bad Bunny wore golden earrings and rings, a skirt and a shirt that read, in Spanish, “They killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt.” The statement was a response to the recent murder of Alexa Negrón Luciano, a trans woman who was violently killed in Puerto Rico according to Pitchfork. The statement on his shirt alludes to issues the artist has been actively vocal about—fighting homophobia and advocating for gender nonconformity. Bad Bunny has been known for his androgynous and extravagant style.

It’s safe to say that the title, “I do what I want” is just another way to remind fans and critics who constantly want to put him in a box—that Bad Bunny is not here to play by the rules.
