Balenciaga Objects Introduces New Laser Cube

The iconic fashion brand is debuting four different crystal glass sculptures with their sneaker designs.

Balenciaga Objects is continuing their adventure in the home goods department, announcing the Laser Cube, which is a solid glass sculpture with a laser-etched interior that creates an optical illusion. Within the sneaker, the laser beams create a negative 3D image of the Balenciaga sneaker, using the bubblegram technique. The overall effect that the cube gives is of a transparent or holographic shoe suspended in crystal glass.

Four of Balenciaga’s most successful sneakers will be represented in the glass, including Triple S, Track, Tyrex, and X-Pander. The cubes have a length of 4.33 inches, a height of 3.93 inches, and a width of 2.16 inches, weighing just over three pounds. The laser is so precise that within the 3D image, you’ll be able to see every part of the shoe, down to the laces and fabric imprints, as well as the sneaker’s brand name and the Balenciaga logo. Because of the fine details etched into the glass, these collectable cubes are perfect for displaying solitarily, or with a collection.

While Balenciaga produces fashion for each season, these cubes are timeless. Creative director Demna Gvasalia, the mind behind Kanye West’s merch, wanted the cubes to be considered to be limited edition collectibles as well as evergreen daily must-haves, and even status symbols.

The Balenciaga Objects Laser Cube is going for $650, available on Balenciaga.com or in a Balenciaga store near you now.
