Bonaroo Music Festival Announces 2021 Lineup

Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo, and Lana Del Rey are among the headliners.

We all remember the slow trickle of cancellation announcements last spring and how quickly it turned into a wave: live shows were off the table. SXSW in Austin was one of the first major coronavirus casualties, but the entire 2020 festival lineup followed. Now, with the rollout of vaccines, there’s some cause for optimism. The Bonaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee has its sights set on September 2-5, 2021. Bonaroo plans to return with a star-studded lineup, which it announced on March 31.

The festival kicks off with a partnership between Bonaroo and the iconic Grand Ole Opry venue, bringing some Tennessee country flavor. The rest of the lineup is eclectic as ever, ranging from rap to pop to indie rock. This year marks the festival’s 20th anniversary, and they’re going all out; headliners include festival standbys Tame Impala and Foo Fighters, recent Grammy-winner Megan Thee Stallion, and the beloved arty rapper Tyler, the Creator. Lizzo will also headline, which is sure to be a sing-along spectacle, and Lana Del Rey will make a headline appearance, likely highlighting music from her 2021 album Chemtrails Over the Country Club. There’s absolutely something for everyone here, and with a $35 down payment, fans can secure their four-day passes. It’s hard to say what this year’s festival will look like. The website mentions “enhanced health and safety measures” related to the coronavirus, but it doesn’t say what these entail. Will masks be mandatory? Will festival-goers all be vaccinated? These questions hinge on how the next few months play out, but there are now reasons to be hopeful.

You can purchase Bonaroo tickets here. There are also two unique NFTs in celebration of the 20th anniversary, which you can bid on starting April 3.
