Bond Returns In New ‘No Time To Die’ Trailer

Daniel Craig returns as James Bond in latest trailer for No Time To Die.

Shortly after wrapping his fourth outing as beloved super-spy James Bond, actor Daniel Craig famously pronounced that he would rather “slash his wrists” with broken glass than make another Bond film. He seems to have had a change of heart since then, or at least a change in finances (he also told TimeOut that if he did come back as Bond “it would only be for the money”). Either way, the latest trailer for Craig’s fifth Bond flick shows him back in the crosshairs of a devious and deformed villain, this time played by Rami Malek.

Last we saw Bond, he was retiring from the spy life. No Time To Die brings him back into the action when he is recruited to help save a kidnapped scientist. Craig’s Bond run has focused largely on the agent’s older age, as well as the tension between his old-school gadget-and-go style and a more modern tech-driven world. It may very well be Craig’s last turn as Bond. The franchise seems to be laying the foundation for a brand that goes beyond martinis and young women draped over chaise lounges like expensive throws.

The film is tagged as “the mission that changes everything.” Lashana Lynch, the British actress known most recently for her role in Captain Marvel, joins the cast as a new double-0 agent.  Ana De Armas, who previously worked with Craig in the film Knives Out, also features heavily in the trailer, nailing a gymnastics style fighting technique in stiletto heels.

Regardless of where things go from here, watching Craig fire loud guns and take precarious trips around the globe in half-functioning aircrafts is always a romping good time, no matter how they rope him into it. See him do it all again in theaters November 20th, COVID permitting.
