Brockhampton Announces “Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine”

The boyband’s upcoming drop marks their sixth studio album release, inviting in a new era for the group.

After plentiful teasing and a year-long hiatus, Brockhampton have announced their sixth studio album, Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine is dropping April 9.

The Texas-bred boyband’s latest release predating the new announcement was 2019 album Ginger, with 2018’s iridescence before that. Their recent single “BUZZCUT” featuring Danny Brown will be included on the new album, their third via Question Everything/RCA.

The group recorded the album under quarantine in 2020, the longest period between album drops since the group moved to LA together in 2016. Undercurrents of separation and isolation will play throughout Roadrunner, a departure from their previous sunny, upbeat themes.

On the day of the album’s release, Brockhampton will livestream a concert from Rick Rubin’s Malibu-based Shangri-La Studios on Momenthouse, with tickets on sale now

According to a press release, Roadrunner will see Brockhampton featuring a “wider group of collaborators for the first time,” with tracks being “equal parts braggadocio and empathy.”

The band is undoubtedly ushering in a new era with their 2021 album, confirmed by Kevin Abstract, who took to his Instagram story in early March to post a 46-second teaser titled “Meet the Roadrunners.”
