Calvin Harris and The Weeknd Release New Single

The pair debut ‘Over Now’ single alongside a trippy music video.

Calvin Harris and The Weeknd release their new joint single ‘Over Now alongside a trippy music video which marks the first collaboration between the two artists.

The Weeknd’s lyrics accompanied by Harris’ instrumentals explore a state of mind after an intimate breakup. A classic Weeknd tone fuels feelings of soulfulness which are lifted into a techno-electric universe by Harris’ DJ chords.

“It’s not the same / ‘Cause it’s over now / Don’t get too confused girl it’s over now / No coming back around / Nothing left to lose girl it’s over now,” The Weeknd sings.

The song’s animated music video, directed by Emil Nava, is a “CGI portal” into The Weeknd’s state of mind. Nava’s film travels through multiple locations — a city, nightclub, desert and even outer space — with digital figures dancing in front of trippy sunsets.

The Weeknd’s last album After Hours released at the beginning of quarantine in March dominated global charts with help from his single Blinding Lights. Harris has worked on a number of recent EP’s and singles, but his last full album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 debuted back in 2017.
