The iconic Italian luxury menswear brand, Canali, has released its Spring-Summer  22 collection purely inspired by Los Angeles in the 1990s. Pieces reference the sunrises and sunsets on the Gold Coast of California, the ocean and hills, and many neighborhoods that make up the beloved city. Combining the classic Italian style of the brand with the city-focus makes for new and unexpected pairings. 

The exclusive pieces include leather garments such as a refined taupe single-breasted buckskin blazer, a green suede jacket embellished with handmade Nappa leather threading, and buckskin espadrilles with stitched rope uppers. The collection is also inspired by “dandy” tailored suits and jackets with elements of high sartorial tradition including anoraks, bomber jackets and silk scarves, and a cotton boat-neck sweater with a structured stitch and real horn buttons.

The 1934 pieces, signature from the inception of the brand, are also inspired by the warm colors of Los Angeles. Trucker jackets come in white denim, aqua, or tobacco-colored suede and are also reworked with white denim with patch pockets in tobacco suede. The collection includes knitwear in geometric patterns on garments made with braid stitch and blue tones dominate the suits ranging from deep denims to turquoise. 

The Black Edition of the collection includes pieces inspired by street art, music, and sports resulting in a mix of bright colors with bold, textured graphics. A hooded jacket features white graphics on a black background and short sleeved shirts with bowling collars are enhanced with maxi prints. Throughout the Black Edition, garments have explosive energy combined with fluorescent pink colors seen in ultra-light, brightly colored trainers.

Through referencing multiple facets of Los Angeles in the 1990s, Canali brings it back to life through colors, atmosphere, scenery, and the eclectic city completed with an Italian touch. By expanding this collection’s deep dive into its influences, the Canali man further enhances the concept of the male wardrobe.
