Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis Might be Joining “The Batman” Cast

The Caped Crusader reboot is starting to take form.

Word on the street is there may be some new additions to Director Matt Reeves’ The Batman very soon. According to reports, both Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis are in talks to join the cast. Farrell is apparently in negotiations with Warner Brothers to play the villain The Penguin, while Serkis is in talks to play Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth.

If cast, the two would join the already star-studded cast which includes Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Paul Dano as The Riddler, and Zoë Kravitz as Selena Kyle aka Catwoman – a role for which she was passed over last go around reportedly for being “too urban.”

The Batman is a reboot of sorts, after Ben Affleck (who’d played Bruce Wayne in DC’s attempt to make The Justice League happen) stepped away from the role after critically and commercially lackluster turns in both Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the more recent Justice League.

The Batman is being co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin and is scheduled for release June 25, 2021.
