Conan O’Brien Announces the End of his Talk Show

The 11 year run will end this June

It’s official, months after the initial announcement in November of last year, Conan O’Brien officially announced that the “Conan” run is coming to an end.

The announcement was made in a tweet by Team Coco, saying that the final episode of the late-night talk show is slated to air on June 24, 2021. “We are winding down our TBS show,” O’Brien said in his announcement, officially ending the 11 year run of the show on the TBS Network.

O’Brien revealed that he would be back with an iteration of the show on HBO Max, which was earlier revealed to be in a “variety” show format. The end of “Conan” marks the end of the third iteration of O’Brien in a late-night setting, following his stint taking over David Letterman’s position on “Late Night” from 1993 to 2009, and then a short run as the host of “The Tonight Show” during the 2009-2010 period.

It was after his time ended there that he found a home on TBS with “Conan,” which began in 2010 and will be ending with a 11 season run. The show was able to maintain good ratings and a devoted fan base despite growing competition from the likes of Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon.

The announcement also laid out the plan for the next two months of the show, which will comprise of several special clips from the duration of the show’s run and special guests. “Best of all, I just want to point out there will be shockingly few, if any, references to Donald Trump, because that’s always been my favorite kind of comedy,” he added.
