Connor McGregor Makes Acting Debut in “Road House” Remake

The UFC fighter steps out of the octagon and into the silver screen.

Connor McGregor has been out of the octagon since July 2021. He was unable to fight after sustaining multiple stress fractures in his leg during his fight with Dustin Poirier. As fans eagerly await his return to the UFC, McGregor announced he’ll be coming back to the sport, but not in the way fans thought. McGregor makes his return to fighting in the Amazon Prime adaptation of “Road House.” Starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, the UFC megastar is set to portray an undisclosed character in the film.

“Road House” originally followed the story of Dalton, a bouncer in a small town bar. Patrick Swayze played Dalton, and the film has become a cult classic. Amazon Prime turns the small town bouncer into a former UFC fighter based in the Florida Keys. Gyllenhaal is set to play the main character in the new adaptation.

McGregor was rumoured to star in in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, but backed out of the project. Now, McGregor is officially stepping into the world of the silver screen.

While some may assume this new role marks the end of his fighting career, McGregor still intends to compete. Karen J. Kessler, a spokesperson for McGregor, said “While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming.”

As of now a release date has not been set. Production for the film is set to take place in the Dominican Republic in late August.
