Countdown to Donda

Fans silently watch as Kanye West gets ready to launch the long-awaited Donda

There’s nothing typical about the release of Kanye West’s new album Donda. But that’s why we like it. The music mogul, fashion designer, and former presidential candidate (did that really happen?) always knows how to keep his fans on their toes (i.e. tippy toes walking on a minefield of eggshells).

But last night, Apple Music launched a new livestream event and in-app takeover for the final unearthing of his much anticipated album. As we know, West has been seen sleeping in the stadium in Atlanta Georgia, roaming the halls in his head to toe red outfit and mask during an Atlanta Hawks soccer game, and hanging out with Chance the Rapper.

Apple provided a link to the exclusive livestream event, which is, of course, taking place at the same Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The “intentionally muted” video shows West’s tiny living quarters within the stadium where he reportedly hasn’t left since his last exclusive listening party on July 22.

Complex reported that Vic Mensa, Mike Dean, Fivio Foreign, and Lil Yachty have also shown up to collaborate or listen with West.

West appears to be sporting a new outfit, posing in his iconic full face mask and a black Balenciaga spike-covered jacket. Fans documented and shared screenshots from the livestream of West doing push-ups in a bulletproof DONDA vest as his team danced around him.

The intimate, albeit silent, livestream continues until later tonight when he’s set to play his 10th album for the Mercedes-Benz Stadium crowd and later drop it into the ethers. But, as we know, West’s perfectionism can lead to a plan gone awry.
