Darcel Disappoints Launches Collection of 10,000 NFT Characters Titled ‘Dour Darcels’

It’s a Dour Darcels world–and we’re just living in it.

In case you didn’t know, NFTs are all the rage right now. From your favorite musicians such as Justin Bieber shelling out $1.5 Million for the Bored Ape NFT to even investors buying home equity slices via fractionalized NFTs, everyone is getting in on the action–especially the art connoisseurs. Artist Craig Redman, founder of the design duo Craig & Karl and creator of Darcel Disappoints (the avatar that has synched up with brands such as Adidas, IKEA, and Coca-Cola) has just recently announced the launch of ‘Dour Darcels’. With a collection of 10,000 randomly generated NFT characters in the style of Darcel Disappoints, the adorable digital characters will embody over 200 vibrant and fashionable traits. As each avatar will be uniquely their own, the 10,000 characters will also serve as the plug to an exclusive community, which grants owners of the NFTs access to benefits like special members-only events, merchandise, artwork, and exclusive artist collaborations.

Entering its 14th year, taking a leap of faith into the complex world of the metaverse is like a new metamorphosis for Darcel Disappoints, as Dour Darcels ( which live on the Ethereum Blockchain as ERC-721A tokens) champions a message of focusing on community-driven platforms rather than be policed by centralized entities. From partnerships with Colette and Nike, collectors of the exclusive NFTs can expect access to innovative new drops and events once purchased.

“Having worked in digital art for the majority of my career, making a move into the metaverse was an easy decision,”  says Craig Redman, the artist behind Darcel Disappoints and Dour Darcels. “Creating a community based on Darcel Disappoint’s tongue-in-cheek approach to life, whilst simultaneously giving access to some of the most unique metaverse-based collaborations is really exciting. I can’t wait to see the response to the collection”.
