Fashion films continues to prevail as one of the most valuable forms of communication for fashion brands. The latest to embrace the medium is Grace Wales Bonner, the young British designer who was 2016's winner of the prestigious LVMH prize, cementing her place as a young-designer-to-watch. In an 11-minute experimental film shot with Harley Weir, the duo enlisted Dev Hynes for scoring.

The at-times gritty and grainy visuals contrast nicely with visions of the latest collection, with beautiful and delicate pieces adorned by a 17-year-old contortionist ballerina, Leroy Mokgatle from Pretoria, South Africa. As Bonner's own heritage lies between London and Jamaica, her collections often feature a diverse cast of models, and this video is no exception; alongside the cast, the location flips between rehearsal studios and images of Johannesburg and Cape Town.

"Film feels like a rich medium through which to expand my world, opening up new possibilities for collaboration, research, and communication," said Wales Bonner. "Harley's eye and Dev's intuition really brought this to life. I have been so motivated and inspired by the team, and the dancers I met along the way. The film is a testament to them."
