Dr. Martens Launches New Artist Collaboration With Keith Haring

Featuring recognizable illustrations and mirroring the artist’s colorful, cartoonish graphics rooted in social activism.

As a culture-changing pop art and graffiti artist, Keith Haring made a great impact in his lifetime and beyond. A big player in the New York art scene (alongside other game-changing artists and socialites like Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat), he developed his signature artwork style that is now recognized by many. Now, his art is making its way onto our boots and shoes — Dr. Martins, to be exact, launching as part of a series of the brand’s collaborations with radical artists.

Every shoe from the collaborative range is printed with Haring’s instantly recognizable illustrations and detailed with two bright character lace charms, mirroring the artist’s colorful, cartoonish graphics rooted in social activism. The iconic 1460 boot is built from smooth leather and enhanced with black graphic detailing across the upper, completed with a strip of his bold, colorful figures graphic on the heel.

Also featured in this collaborative range are two 1461 shoes, both made from smooth leather and decorated with Haring’s staple designs — the first being a nod to his ‘angelic baby’ designs with white coloring while the second one references Haring’s iconic characters in its all-over print. Finishing off the collaboration is a black kids 1460 boot, constructed from soft hydro leather and printed with his classic bat graphic.

The new Dr. Martens x Keith Haring range will be available in select stores and drmartens.com starting Friday, January 22nd. Check out the lifestyle imagery for the launch in the gallery below:
