Dragons, Titles, and Battles: The New Trailer for HBO’s “House of the Dragon” Is Here

The “Games of Thrones” prequel is set to make its debut on August 21, here’s everything we know so far.

In 2019 “Game of Thrones” came to an end. After eight seasons of drama, betrayal, fighting, and dragons, Jon Snow rode into the north, signaling the end of an era. HBO announced that a spin-off series about the Targaryen family in October of 2019. “House of the Dragon” has been on fans minds for nearly two years, and is about to make its debut. To get fans excited for its August release date, HBO released the official trailer for the new series.

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 novel “Fire & Blood”, which covers the events that came 200 years before “Game of Thrones.” The first season is set to have 10 episodes.

The trailer opens with King Viserys Targaryen, played by Paddy Considine, recalling a dream. After hearing the sounds of “thundering hooves, splintering shields and ringing swords” the new heir took the Iron Throne. “And all the dragons roared as one,” he finishes.

From the trailer alone, fans can determine that the new series will focus on the fight for the Iron Throne. King Targaryen must choose between his brother and his daughter for the throne. With a throne on the line, families are divided, and an epic battle takes place.

“House of the Dragon” will premiere on HBO Max on August 21st.
