Drake Booed Off Stage at Camp Flog Gnaw Festival

Don’t worry Drake, V still love you!

Held annually in Los Angeles, Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival has brought together a major lineup of artists since itsincpetion in 2012. This year, the festival featured chart-topping artists like Solange, Brockhampton, and YG, but the headlining spot remained a surprise for attending fans. The official lineup flyer even included a “???” in place of a name amplifying the excitement of the secret performance.

It was revealed last night to guests onstage that the surprise headliner was Canadian-born rapper Drake, and the audience didn’t take to it well. Despite Drake being a widely popular artist, audience members were upset by his surprise performance signaling that it was the wrong crowd. The secrecy of the headliner led to fans speculating and building their expectations on certain artists. Majority of the audience expected artist Frank Ocean to perform, chanting– “We want Frank” after Drake come onstage. “I’m here for you tonight. If you want to keep going tonight, I will keep going” Drake told the audience. Before he finally exited the stage, he politely told the audience– “It’s been love. I love you. I go by the name of Drake. Thank you for having me.”

Though Drake handled the situation like a pro, Tyler, the Creator took to Twitter to scold fans’ behavior and publicly apologize to the “Champagne Papi”.”I THOUGHT BRINGING ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST ON THE FUCKING PLANET TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FIRE!” he said. “SOME CREATED A NARRATIVE IN THEIR HEAD AND ACTED OUT LIKE ASSHOLES WHEN IT DIDNT COME TRUE AND I DONT FUCK WITH THAT”.

Some of Drake’s own fans expressed shock over the events. Twitter user @virtualvibes wrote– “imagine being so fucking privileged that when an event doesn’t book the surprise artist you want, you boo 4 Grammy winner Drake off the stage. Unreal.” Despite the recent events, Drake shouldn’t be too pressed with a triple nomination for the upcoming American Music Awards this year. So don’t worry Drake, V still love you.
