Drake Unveils Release for “Certified Lover Boy”

The rapper’s label posted a video on social media that finally announced when his new LP would be coming out.

After months of teasing, Drake finally dropped a release announcement for his new LP, “Certified Lover Boy.” The album will see the light of day in January of 2021. An exact release date has not been given as of yet.

On October 24, the rapper’s 34th birthday, OVO Sound posted a short clip to their social media. The clip starts with a young boy looking up at a bright light shining on him from the sky. The following scenes reference Drake’s previous album covers, specifically “Take Care,” “Nothing Was the Same,” and “Dark Lane Demo Tapes.” The only difference is the heart shaved into the rapper’s hairline, a reference to his new era.

“Certified Lover Boy” is the Canadian rapper’s sixth studio album, the first since 2018’s hugely successful “Scorpion.” The rapper’s last release was “Dark Lane Demo Tapes,” released this summer, which served as a warm-up to the upcoming album. The new album features the number-two single “Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil Durk.
