Drake’s Brand OVO Celebrates Canadian Excellence In New Collaboration With The University of Toronto
Canada’s favorite multi-hyphenate is dedicating the 2021 Fall/Winter collection of his global lifestyle brand, October’s Very Own, to celebrating Canadian excellence and the prowess of his hometown.
Drake’s October’s Very Own (OVO) brand has partnered with the University of Toronto to celebrate Canadian excellence with a new line of collegiate-inspired menswear. The capsule collection––which is right on-trend for this fall’s resurgence of the preppy-collegiate look––is dedicated to showcasing Canada’s finest.
The line was announced on the OVO Instagram page via a shared post two days ago. They posted the campaign video for the line with the caption “FW2021—OVO® / University of Toronto
—Celebrating Canadian Excellence… Available in-store and online. 08.20.2021” The video was scored by the acclaimed Canadian composer, Chilly Gonzales, and featured Kylie Masse, a 4-time Olympic medalist in swimming and University of Toronto alumna.
The collection features many brand new pieces to the apparel brand’s signature roster: you’ll find an assortment of jackets, sweaters, polos, sports caps, and more. All of the pieces in the collection are made with a classic collegiate style that’ll take you back to your undergrad days. The collection blends Drake’s signature OVO-Owl logo with imagery associated with Canada and the University of Toronto. A nice meld of sporty and classic prep, this collection and its “Same City, Same Friends” motif pays an exciting homage to Drake’s Toronto roots.
This capsule collection has dropped just in time for the fall semester, and comes at the perfect time in the preppy look’s trend cycle. This past year, we’ve seen an eager resurgence to the trend, brought back in full force by the brand-new Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max that aired earlier this year. This fall, the focus is definitely placed on combining the sporty look of athleticwear with the classic and clean look of preppy trends. So this capsule collection, that fuses the sporty-preppy looks so effortlessly, could not have come at a better time.
The line will officially become available in-store and online in North America starting August 21st. The collection sells between $48-$668 on octobersveryown.com. To shop from the line, visit the OVO website and find select pieces on campus at the University of Toronto Bookstore. Check out some of the line’s pieces below.
