In a snow-filled setting very much inspired by the alpine region of Oasi Zegna, Alessandro Sartori, the current visionary of Ermenegildo Zegna, presented his Fall 2018 Menswear collection in Milan, premiering a manifold of clean-cut and practical ensembles. Outerwear is the main identifier here, with Satori sending classically tailored top coats, sleek slim trousers, printed knits, and a few pops of color down the runway, walked by a very diverse militia of models.

Satori’s crisp execution and clear sense of his connection between unique construction techniques and the materials he has chosen creates a luster within the detailing such as the placement of pockets and knit work on the jackets and coats. Each garment moves in an organic yet fashionable way, exhibiting the functional qualities and sundry range of the chosen flair and fabrics. The minimalistic yet meticulously styled models provide an effortless but complex combination of nostalgia and modern sentiment towards designing for the “chic” male, an agency that is often overlooked or quickly labeled as feminine or petit off the runway.

Alessandro Satori’s commitment to choosing a neutral color palette, drawing clear inspiration from the natural setting these designs are inspired by, is the fixative in the overarching theme of the Zegna man: functional, secure, chic. See behind-the-scenes photos from the show below.
