Exclusive Look: Tyson Ritter’s Outfit for ‘Don’t Freak Out’ Video

VMAN’s fashion director Gro Curtis takes us behind the scenes of the All-American Rejects’ frontman look.

The pop-punk Gen Z renaissance is here – and it looks more fashionable than ever. In collaboration with FORD Models, VMAN’s fashion director Gro Curtis styled The All-American Rejects’s frontman Tyson Ritter for “Don’t Freak Out,” his latest music video collaboration with LILHUDDY, iann dior, and “pop-punk godfather” Travis Barker

In the energetic video, Ritter wears a Moschino brushstroke “painted” suit, presented in the label’s Fall 2021-22 collection. “After numerous outfits Tyson and I tried, we decided on Moschino because the look has the shape of classic tailoring but with an incredible quirky twist that only Jeremy Scott can conceptualize,” Curtis said of the look.

Adding a fun twist to beloved classics seems to fit just perfectly with the idea of pop-punk, a genre that has been experiencing a strong mainstream comeback after dominating airwaves in the 2000s – an influence that can be seen in the work of artists like WillowOlivia RodrigoMachine Gun Kelly, and, of course, LILHUDDY.

“Don’t Freak Out,” which will be featured in LILHUDDY’s upcoming debut album Teenage Heartbreak, is an upbeat, catchy track that combines pop, punk, and hip-hop elements and is described as “a true summertime jam.” The lyrics retell common challenges and struggles in young relationships, including communication and mental health themes.

The Daniel Russell-directed music video was filmed at an abandoned factory and shows Ritter, LILHUDDY, Barker, and iann dior passionately performing under light rain, illuminated by warm stage spotlights and flames. “Tell me all the words that’ll make you stay / Tell me what to do just to make it right / How many times do I have to say I’m fine, I’m fine?” a soaked Ritter sings.
