In case you missed it, Polo Ralph Lauren is ringing in the gift-giving season by bringing back their “7 Days 7 Drops” on the Polo 67 App with an exclusive series running from December 8th to the 14th. On the occasion of this holiday season, these 7 days will feature the ultimate holiday daily drops, including limited edition products and vintage 80’s and 90’s Polo Ski-wear treasures, all sourced and specially curated from the Polo archive.
To celebrate, Polo Ralph Lauren invited content creator extraordinaire Vinnie Hacker to host the ‘7 Days 7 Drops’ Launch Event, tapping actor and DJ Hart Denton to help set the vibe for the night with some of New York’s dapper partygoers. Decked out in archive Polo Ralph Lauren, Hacker was ready to help get the party started.
While kicking off the celebration, VMAN’s Digital Editor Kevin Ponce caught up with Hacker to chat about the holiday season ahead and all things snowboarding.
VMAN: Let’s talk about this Polo Ralph Lauren look. What do you have going on? Did you choose all of this yourself?
Vinnie Hacker: Yeah it’s archive–it’s from 1987! I know what I want [when it comes to dressing up], and yet, I also have a hard time saying no to people. So if I had a stylist and they were like, ‘here’s this’, I’d be like ‘okay!’. I had another outfit on earlier and that one’s from 2007, still vintage!
VM: So vintage clothing: is it yay or nay for you?
VH: I personally love vintage clothing, I [shop vintage] pretty often. I’ll find little stores in LA and I’ll walk in and just browse around. Even if I don’t find anything, I love going and just looking around, you never know [what you’ll find].
VM: Are you pairing a lot of vintage with newer pieces? What does your getting process entail when it comes to the look?
VH: I love both. I will say it depends on how I’m feeling that day and what I feel good in. It varies from time to time. I do sometimes like to mix old with new, but not too much because I look at it and then I’m like ‘hmm’.
VM: You can look a little dusty when you wear too much vintage, in my opinion.
VH: *laughs* A hundred percent. It really depends on what kind of vintage we’re talking about too, as some people like to describe vintage in other ways.
VM: Keeping on the vintage theme, we’re seeing a somewhat celebration of exactly that with Polo’s 7 Days 7 Drops, focusing on ski and snow sports. What did you first think of the drop when you were approached in hosting the kick-off for it?
VH: I loved [the idea]. I personally love snowboarding and skiing, and I like to wear vintage when I’m out in the street regularly. Let’s say I’m chilling in my ski cabin, this would be the perfect collection. Just sitting In front of a fireplace with this outfit and just being like ‘this is the life’, you know what I mean?
VM: Exactly. What do you have going on this holiday season? Are you gonna be doing more snowboarding on the slopes?
VH: Yes, I’m trying to go snowboarding a lot this year, and also travel soon. A dream place would be Japan. I heard Japan’s mountains are amazing, and I also want to go to Colorado and visit home in Washington [and visit] Crystal Mountain– that’s where I went when I was younger. Other than that, my dad and my brother are coming down to LA from Seattle to visit me because this is my first year with my own house!
VM: Congrats on the house! Gathering the family there, I imagine?
VH: I’m doing Christmas at my house this year. Sadly, my mom can’t go because she’s a dispatcher, and it is so busy now, but I’m gonna go up to Seattle afterward and visit.
VM: And tonight’s sort of like a pre-game to the festivities for you, and you have Hart Denton playing DJ tonight. What’s the vibe we’re going for tonight?
VH: Definitely cozy energy, everybody mingling, talking, having fun. I’m hoping he’d play The Strokes or Weezer at some point.
VM: I’ll put in a request for you. Now, as the new year is coming up, do you have plans for the year ahead? What are some of your hopes for yourself?
VH: Well, I definitely want to explore more areas of life. I do travel a lot, but I haven’t been to a lot of different places. I want to explore the world more, with more varieties.
VM: Do you usually go to these global places for work mainly or for yourself?
VH: For work. One time, I flew to Korea for a single day, and I had something else I had to do back in LA so I flew and then came back immediately. But I really want to go to Sicily because that’s where my grandpa’s from, so I definitely want to go to Sicily and explore all over.
VM: Got any resolutions? New year, new you or do you think you’re good as you are right now?
VH: *Laughs* I’m definitely not good as I am. I think if I were to say I have a resolution, it would probably be to do more streaming and do it every time I play and also interact with my fan base more.
VM: Now you’re entering fashion a bit more and more. I feel like your career kind of took off just within the last two, or three years. Did you always wanna work in fashion?
VH: I definitely did. I started modeling before I was really big on TikTok or anything. Along with modeling, comes fashion, and I got into that a lot. I love talking to people about it. Especially keeping up with the new seasons, just being able to like look at it all and seeing so many different things come together.
