Fendi Men's SS20 closed out four days of menswear previews on Monday with a flourishing garden stroll. Picture this: wicker chairs set up around a gravel pathway, straw picnic baskets filled with Fendi-branded bananas, brioche buns, and ceramic cups holding coffee, green tea, and juice. A Fendi-type garden picnic. Held in the gardens of Milan’s Villa Reale, the models blend into the foliage of dark earth colors and a gardening aesthetic.

Furthermore, the show was staged by Luca Guadagnino, the “Call Me By Your Name” Italian director who has fostered a longtime collaboration with Fendi. Recreating the summer mood he captures in the film, Guadagnino musters a collection that returns to the simple things. Detachable watering cans, baskets, gardening gloves, and pockets manifest as accessories. Short-sleeved overalls, travel hats, and floral-print shirting bring the models close to nature. The collection is further perfected by oversized mesh bags, workman’s denim, and outerwear. Inspired by botanicals, gardening, and traveling, the clothing radiates a light, breezy, and effortless quality. The runway gives off a cinematic aesthetic, with the models appearing as though they are a part of the surrounding environment – and the collection being the main star.

To no one’s surprise, the pristine performance came with a guest list subject for celebration. The front row included Rob Raco, the actor and eyewear ambassador, the Belgian actor Damien Chappele and accompanying influencers Caro Daur and Yoshi. Appealing to additional Netflix stars, Alex Pettyfer, the main character of the new hit series “I-Land,” and Tommy Dorfman admired the show. The show left lots to look forward to: a year of creative, fresh, and fashion-forward attire.
