Find out the Bold inspiration behind BODE’s S/S 20 Collection

Enjoy the show, the luxury menswear brand has dropped another out-of-the-box SS20 collection.

Designer Emily Adams Bode is known for studying personal narratives and historical techniques through her clothing business, BODE. As she has continued to grow into her brand, launched in 2016, the CFDA Emerging Designer of the Year has perfected her art of storytelling.

For her latest Spring/Summer collection, the BODE designer has focused her attention on telling the story of her great-great-great-uncle, Albert Bode. Specifically targeting her relatives’ company, Bode Wagon Co. which produced show wagons for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circuses back in the day.

This collection grabs inspiration from the location where the circus would set up camp every summer, the bold colors of Sarasota Flordia, and the costumes seen in the shows. Noticeable through the of bold appliqué shirts, micro tent shorts, floral patchwork, show ribbon trousers, and reimagined rugby shorts. More show-stealers include printed old-school circus ads, lace undershirts, and see-through totes.

Like a trapeze artist who pretends to lose their balance and always keeps the crowd engaged, Emily Adams Bode will without a doubt keep us wondering: What’s next? What we do know for sure is that the Summers collection is quickly selling out. Check out some of our favorites, down below, and click here to purchase.
