Frank Ocean Unveils New Luxury Jewelry and Clothing Store, Homer

The first drop features jewelry and accessories inspired by “childhood obsessions” and “heritage as fantasy.”

Five years since the release of Frank Ocean’s sophomore album, Blonde, and it seems the singer is trying his hand at a new creative endeavour: he is now the founder of Homer, a luxury jewelry and clothing line store.

Homer, symbolizing the carving of history into stone, is the name of Ocean’s newest project. The out-of-the-blue announcement on Friday caught many fans off guard, as they were expecting, well, an album.

But that doesn’t make the drop any less exciting.

Designs are inspired by “childhood obsessions” and “heritage as a fantasy” — and it shows. With an 84-page catalog full of vibrant, childlike and almost nostalgic enamel jewelry, as well as different precious metals, diamond embellishments and printed silk scarves, there’s something extremely playful and joyful about the store’s first collection.

The cover and photography of the catalog – which can be requested at homer.com – was shot by Ocean himself. What can’t he do?

But this was undoubtedly a collaborative project.

Campaign imagery was also shot by Tyrone Lebon, director of the “Nikes” music video and a regular collaborator with Ocean. The Homer website is also soundtracked by Orlando-based rapper and producer, 454’s first mixtape, 4 Real.

The handmade pieces will be available for purchase by appointment-only at the store’s Bowery St. location in New York City, set to open on Aug. 9. Global orders can also be placed by calling the store at +1 (212) 410-3300 starting on the same day.
