During a period in American politics where remaining silent in the face of injustice allows disenfranchised groups to be pushed further into the margins of society, rappers are turning to fashion to express their solidarity.

The trendsetter here? The ever-conscious Frank Ocean, who wore a shirt made by Green Box Shop bearing the slogan, "WHY BE RACIST, SEXIST, HOMOPHOBIC, OR TRANSPHOBIC WHEN YOU COULD JUST BE QUIET?" to his performance at Panorama this summer. After images of the artist performing went viral, we've seen two other rappers don politically-charged messages across their chests.

They're none other than Lil Yachty and Lil Uzi Vert, two names which represent a broadening rap genre that's open to more exploration and inclusion than ever before. The rising moguls have put their own, notably more positive spin on Frank's idea, as the taglines sewn into their cotton kits encourage freedom of expression and individuality while still being inherently political in our current context.

We're hoping that this trend continues to snowball with more artists showing face in politically-positive gear, and hopefully, more fashion houses applying the inspiration to their own collections in the coming seasons.
