How have fans reacted so far to the release of Jungle Rules?

They love it! “Unforgettable” is now #2 on Billboard Hot 100! It had been a while since I dropped my own project, so I knew that my fans were expecting something great from me. I wanted to make sure I didn’t disappoint, so I took my time to make great music.

I understand you filmed the Unforgettable video in Uganda. What was that experience like and why did you decide to shoot it there?

I decided to shoot in Uganda because I wanted to bring something new to the table. I feel like everything has already been done – I’ve shot in Hawaii, Miami, all of that. So, when I discovered the Triplets Ghetto Kids on Youtube from Uganda I was inspired. They touched my heart!

Tell us about the “Unforgettable” cover art.

The “Unforgettable” cover is my mother and father at their wedding. I wanted the cover to be an unforgettable moment.

What song on this album are you most proud of?

My favorite collaboration was with Max B. It was dope and very inspiring. It is really unique collaborating with friends on work.

What was the process of creating this album like? How much time did it take to get it perfect?

Honestly, the process itself was about six months. I changed labels in the time being. We recorded in both New York and Los Angeles.

What message do you hope your fans will take away from your new music?

That I’m back!

Do you find that on the road, you go into tour mode and focus strictly on performing or do you multi-task and continue to create new music?

I think it’s the feeling you get when you’re on tour and you’re performing that you can't let pass, you know?

Can you talk about your experience collaborating with The Weeknd? I understand you are on the Starboy World Tour and you also collaborated on “A Lie”?

We collaborated on my first album and now on my sophomore album, we’ve got an even bigger hit. We are brothers, jungle brothers.

Can you speak on the “Whiskey Eyes” video and the meaning behind it?

It was a tribute to my brother Chinx. I still get the chills every time I watch that video. It feels like something him and I would usually make, it's like we are in the studio together.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Lana Del Rey and A$AP Rocky.

Where does the name “Jungle Rules” actually come from?

The concrete jungle. It’s inspired by Africa and New York. There are no rules out here in this concrete jungle. The strong survive: it’s eat or get eaten. There is an underground pressure that is so real. The biggest finesser is going to finesse his way to the top.
