VMAN Premiere: G-Eazy Drops Music Video For “Back To What You Knew”

Take a look at what the rapper has been experimenting with while in quarantine.

Last Friday, the multi-platinum selling superstar G-Eazy released his special side project titled Everything’s Strange Here. Since the release, the project has already become a #1 on Apple Music’s Alternative Chart.

Today, we here at VMAN is thrilled to premiere the music video for its third track “Back To What You Knew” directed and creative directed by Lauren Dunn.  Exclusively, he tells VMAN, “This song is about finding yourself in the vicious cycle of a broken relationship that you can’t seem to find your way out of. The polarizing highs and lows that come along with an unhealthy cycle… you just keep going right back to what you knew.”

Despite being in quarantine, G has been staying busy. He’s taken the time to experiment with a new sound, singing, and producing in the studio. The result is a project of personal exploration that highlights the rapper’s wide-ranging musical sensibilities with a mix of unexpected covers and original songs. While experimenting with this side project, the artist also has continually been working on his forthcoming album These Things Happen Too.

However, that doesn’t mean he’s been neglecting his part in philanthropic duties, such as the Black Lives Matter Movement. The entire month of June, G-Eazy has been donating all profits from his merch sales to MBK Alliance, Campaign Zero, and Color of Change, calling on other artists to join him in donating what they can. Additionally, the rapper has pledged to donate 20,000 masks to the Bay Area in partnership with Genies and Bella Canvas and more.
