Alton Mason is a name and presence whose talent has taken over the fashion industry. When he began modeling ten years ago, Gucci was the first fashion house Mason signed a contract with. Since then, he has become one of the industry’s few male supermodels, earning Model of the Year honors five years running. The supermodel has a close relationship with V, appearing as a cover star for V154, where he shared words of advice, motivation, and his personal “golden rules.” Before that, VMAN 48 brought Mason into conversation with Baz Luhrmann surrounding his role as Little Richard in Elvis.

Ten years after first signing with Gucci, Mason lets VMAN in on another chapter of the story. Heading to Milan Fashion Week for the Gucci runway show, he takes us behind the scenes of a return to the house where his modeling career first began.

“So excited to be attending the Gucci show during Milan Fashion Week. Come get ready with me.“

“Today I’m wearing a black Gucci suit with a liquid silk shirt and my favourite part: crocodile Giovanni loafers.”

“I have to moisturize my skin so it matches the shirt.”

“For the look, I tucked the shirt into the pants. I always like to do the third button because it’s sexy. I’m going to arrive with the jacket on, but when it’s time for dinner and the after-party, I’m taking it off.”

“En route to the show. I didn’t wear a watch today because I’m bringing my Gucci bag with me. And this isn’t just a regular bag; it is a Gucci clutch with a watch attached. It’s fashion, baby.”

“We’ve arrived! The look is super tailored; they snatched me up. It’s very militant and clean; Gucci loves putting me in a suit.”

 “When I was a new face, Gucci was the first contract that I signed. It’s now my ten-year anniversary as a model, and here we are, still in a Gucci suit.”
