Since joining Givenchy last year, the self-taught designer Matthew Williams has embedded his signature in the aristocratic elegance, opening a new chapter in Givenchy’s history. From Alyx’s DNA, you’d notice: subversive culture and modern craftsmanship are in Matthew’s blood. 

The designer always surprises audiences with innovation. Long a friend and fan, this time, Matthew invited the Seattle-born, Mexico-based artist Chito to develop airbrush graphics and bring his idioms to the Givenchy bestiary. Selected pieces from its Spring 2022 Pre-collection are produced in collaboration with Chito, through a special preview starting worldwide on July 16th, 2021.

The collection itself is eye-catching enough; yet, the collaboration further invigorates by a celebration of Chito’s ever-evolving aerographic style. On a series of iconic pieces, Chito characters, such as his cartoon dog, a symbol of protection and loyalty, feature fresh spins on Givenchy’s House emblems.

"Coming from creating unique pieces with airbrushed embellishments on rare objects and garments, and now being able to bring them to the world is something special in itself,” said Chito. “Only Givenchy would be able to make that happen.”

T-shirts, a zip-up silk shirt, sweaters, hoodies, and Bermuda shorts all became Chito’s canvas. His truehearted,  pop-inspired motif of a girl with a heart, appears on pieces for both women and men. The artist’s 4G Heart — a fusion of the Givenchy DNA and the artist’s signature — appears in contrasting colors on a t-shirt, hoodie, or windbreaker.

Of course, Givenchy won’t leave accessories behind. Accessories range from bags, sneakers, and slides to water bottles and caps. The bestselling Antigona vertical bag and 4G crossbody and bucket styles, in pink and white jacquard, black, or red, are presented. White leather city sneakers and marshmallow slides in black are now with a contrasting 4G emblem. A heart-shaped leather bag, a silver water bottle with a red leather strap, and baseball caps bring a jaunty touch to any outfit.

Stay tuned - the Givenchy collaboration with Chito for the Spring 2022 Pre-Collection will launch on WeChat in China on July 9th and roll out to Givenchy stores worldwide and on givenchy.com on July 16th.
