Hunter S. Thompson had the career of a lifetime. The writer became a pioneer of New Journalism, ruthlessly covered Hells Angels, the counterculture movement, and Richard Nixon - and is a late legend because of it.

Though Thompson devoted his life to storytelling, his own story may be coming to life soon enough, as MGM has announced plans in the works in collaboration with Davey Holmes (executive producer of Get Shorty and Shameless) to develop a biographic series on the writer for television.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series currently set to be called Fear & Loathing, named after Thompson's renowned 1971 collection, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream, about the ultimate failure of the counterculture dream of the '60s.

The forthcoming bio series will be the first production from Holmes in his recent deal with MGM TV and is sure to rich in content, as Thompson lived a wild life induced in psychedelics and immersed in riveting writing.
