Hunter x Rowing Blazers: The British Rain Boot Gets A Contemporary Upgrade
The collaboration prompts a playful and slightly subversive take on British and American wardrobe staples
The iconic British boot making house of Hunter has summoned NYC cult label, Rowing Blazers for their latest collaboration. Founded by former national team rower and Oxford-educated archaeologist Jack Carlson, Rowing Blazers is known for its colorful, playful, slightly subversive take on British and American classics. For their latest collaboration, the capsule consists of men’s and women’s boots made from natural, vulcanized rubber and featuring Rowing Blazers’ signature croquet Stripe and zig-zag pattern.
“When I was at Oxford, the top university rowing crews had Hunter wellies in Oxford Blue, with the boat club emblem on the side. They were a major status symbol. I have a couple pairs, and they are among my most prized possessions. I’ve loved Hunter since I was a kid, and I love the idea of adding some color and pattern to the iconic rubber welly. The zig-zag in navy and red and the ‘croquet stripe’ are signatures of our brand: one subtle but fun and unexpected; the other crazy and colorful. They just make people smile,” shared Jack Carlson.
Shot in Marin by photographer Spencer Wells, the campaign features women’s original short rain boots, women’s original tall rain boots, women’s original Chelsea boots, and men’s original short rain boots. Since its founding in 1856, Hunter has developed a reputation for balancing purpose, protection and style, producing celebrated products that perform well, look good and endure. As a British heritage brand connected to the outdoors, their designs help people experience the world more freely, so that they can be actively present and confident in their pursuits and fully immerse themselves in the world around them, whatever the weather.
