One of Brooklyn’s biggest exports has joined forces with Long Island University (Brooklyn) to launch a new college program focused on music and entertainment management. 

Launched in 2008, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has managed top charting artists and athletes for over 10 years and will now be serving young creative students through Roc Nation School of Music and Sports & Entertainment. The new school will offer degrees in music, music technology, entrepreneurship and production, and sports management. Students interested in enrolling can begin applying this Fall for the Fall 2021 semester and Roc Nation Hope Scholarship recipients will be selected from a group of academically competitive, need-based first-time freshmen from New York.

“We’re excited that The Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment will provide unique insight, knowledge and experiences for students and introduce the world to the next generation of unmatched talent,” Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez. She described the partnership between Roc Nation and LIU as “a true investment in our community and young people in Brooklyn, in New York City, and beyond.”

This college program will be a hands-on learning experience. Students will have the opportunity to learn through internships, and get to speak with guest artists and lecturers. In addition to college students, the school will also offer resources to high school students and those younger. Starting in Spring 2021, the school will launch summer residential camps for high schoolers and Saturday programs for younger students (ages 10-18) that will focus on music and sports management. Scholarships will also be available for need-based students.
